Wild Heart Ranch is located in Claremore, Oklahoma. We provide medical or infant support to any indigenous wild animal in need of assistance and release it into suitable wild habitat once care is completed.

Welcome

I am Annette Tucker and my husband Robbie and I own Wild Heart Ranch, located in Rogers County, north of Claremore Oklahoma. I began this venture in 1996 as a State licensed Wildlife Rescue & Rehabilitation Center for all species of wildlife needing orphan support, injury treatment or disease recovery.

In 2007, my dear friend and partner wildlife rehabilitator, Ms. Sandy Brooks and I founded the facility as a 501(c)3 non-profit public charity, and continue to expand and improve the operation, making it one of the largest all species wildlife centers in Oklahoma. In 2006, My brother, Larry Hagood, built our second wildlife rehabilitation clinic on our property next door, and we can now house and care for hundreds of animals at a time in clean, climate controlled comfort with two complete animal clinics. I have the best crew imaginable, and we can do large volume emergencies as well as care for hundreds of infants at a time, and we do it well! I am a very proud director! Our goal is to accommodate any species and numbers of native wildlife with professional care and support, in as much privacy as possible to retain their reclusive nature as wild animals to ensure survival upon release. With the constant support and medical supervision of Dr. Lesleigh Cash Warren of Hooves Paws and Claws veterinary clinic in Claremore, we are a full service facility and can handle any medical needs.

Wild Heart Ranch is open 24/7 for emergencies. We can not take in homeless dogs and cats. We do not have room or the funds to assist them, though it breaks our heart to turn any animal away. If we can't handle a situation, we usually have advice, instruction or will refer you to an appropriate organization or give you numbers for wildlife rehabilitators closer to you if you have rescued a wild animal and are not local to us.

We are not a public zoo. We are a 24 hour wildlife medical clinic and pre-release care facility. We operate as a hospital for wild animals who are often frightened and recovering from trauma. We want to share this experience with everyone, and do so with this web site, books, stories and newsletters. Be sure and sign up for our blog to the left so you will automatically receive updates and posts, and please send kudos to our webmaster, Dave Pettigrew, for this AMAZING web site he built and hosts for us at no charge. He wants our donation money spent for animal care, and this is how he helps us do it! What an artist! What an incredibly generous act! If you have any web site needs, I probably do not have to point out just how talented he is! We are all blown away! Like I always say, if you can't make a donation, spend your money with the businesses who support us and other animal rescues. It makes a difference! Support, (like other substances), rolls down hill!!

Please enjoy your Internet visit and know that we are working hard, non stop, taking excellent care of the animals, and supporting their privacy so they can heal, grow and go WILD!

THIS PETITION IS ABOUT TAX RELIEF FOR ALL ANIMAL RESCUES IN OKLAHOMA! NOT JUST WILDLIFE RESCUES!!!

As a new non profit wildlife rescue, I applied for my State Tax Exemption for Sales tax. The application listed potential categories. Churches, charities that assist people...nothing for animals. I decided it was a mistake, and wrote out "Animal rescue" on the application, under "other". It was declined. The letter read "Animal organizations do not qualify for sales tax exemption". I was SHOCKED! I spend tens of thousands of dollars in my community to care for rescued animals that the State offers absolutely no help for. I even have to pay them for my permits to help these animals, and now that I am an official charity, they STILL get 10% of my money and money from our donors! It's wrong, and it is time to change it.

I am going "all the way" with this request. I was advised by a former senator that this has most likely not been changed because no one has pushed for it. Well, I am pushing, and I need help. I've got the ball rolling, but I need the State to know that I am not the only one who feels this is outrageous and needs changing.

"We the undersigned Oklahoma voters and concerned citizens from other States, ask that legislation in Oklahoma be changed to allow 'not for profit' animal rescues and shelters to have a qualifying category for State sales tax exemption. We ask that these Federally recognized 501(c)(3) organizations be regarded by the State as necessary members of the charity networks in our communities, and donation money and the money spent in the service of our community's unwanted and unowned animals not be taxed to support local and State Government programs and expenses, and be conserved in the same manner, with the same regard for necessity as human charities and churches."
